Middlebury Regional Emergency & Medical Services, Inc. has provided pre-hospital emergency care service to the Middlebury area and throughout Addison County since 1970. Our volunteer and career staff respond to approximately 2,200 calls each year in one of our four fully-equipped advanced life support ambulances or one of our specialized response vehicles which include a paramedic/rescue utility vehicle and a heavy rescue vehicle. The MREMS provides Vermont State Licensed, Advanced Life Support (ALS), emergency response for all 911 calls in its designated service area. The current service area includes the towns of Middlebury, East Middlebury, Bridport, Cornwall, Orwell, New Haven, Ripton, Salisbury, Shoreham, Weybridge, and Whiting. We also respond mutual aid as backup to the service areas of the Bristol Rescue Squad, Brandon Area Rescue Squad, and Vergennes Area Rescue Squad.
Middlebury Regional Emergency & Medical Services, Inc. provides supplementary communication services with its modern emergency communications center located at the headquarters station. Known as Middlebury Emergency Communications, the center has two dispatch consoles, a Motorola CommandPlus console with a Motorola CDM-1250 back-up, as well as separate, dedicated 911 lines. The center has the capabilities of operating on multiple frequencies, as well as monitoring all neighboring dispatch centers, such as local and state law enforcement, and other Fire & EMS centers. The vision of the center is to provide comprehensive communication services 24/7, county-wide for both fire and EMS services.
