Part Time/Temporary SPED Tutor
Posted: 03/22/2026RNESU is seeking applications for part-time/temporary tutor needed to provide individual tutoring. Curriculum provided by Lothrop Special Educators. Flexibility available in scheduling. Must be reliable; enjoy working with elementary students and willing to work as a valued team member in a professional environment. Retired educators encouraged to apply.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred- Commitment to the success of all students
- Ability to use a variety of approaches to establish a safe and caring classroom community and to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for students
- Knowledge of best practices regarding school-wide student management protocols (i.e., Responsive Classroom, Multi Tier Support System, PBIS, Universal Design for Learning)
- Knowledge of best practices in literacy and math
- Knowledge of outdoor classroom practices
- Deep understanding of need for social and emotional learning
- Ability to create a trauma sensitive classroom.
- Ability to integrate technology into the learning environment
- Ability to communicate and collaborate with parents, community members & businesses
- Ability to use formative assessment to provide student feedback and to adjust lesson delivery
- Ability for excellent teaching, organizational, planning, written and oral communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to interact respectfully and collegially with colleagues as part of collaborative teams
- Maintain records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
- Associates degree, Bachelors degree, Masters degree
- This position requires a mandatory full criminal background check and fingerprinting

Our school district is centrally located in western Vermont. We are between Rutland, third largest city in VT and the college town of Middlebury. Our beautiful lakes and mountains make the area popular for many outdoor sports. The smallest of our six elementary schools has 31 children, K-6, and the largest has 400 children. Our 7-12 grade high school has an enrollment of 750 students and offers a wide variety of courses for both career and college bound students.
Job Requirements- At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Associate degree preferred.
