Anticipated Teacher: Physical Education
Posted: 03/22/2026Otter Valley High School is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and collaborative PE teacher to fill a vacancy in the 2026-2027 school year. While the teaching assignments will be determined by the strengths and qualifications of team members, it is likely that this position will include a combination of middle and high school courses. Successful candidates should be properly licensed or eligible for licensure in Physical Education.
Job Responsibilities
All Otter Valley teachers are expected to:- implement standards-aligned units of study and engaging lessons
- use content-specific pedagogical techniques to engage learners
- use assessment to inform instruction throughout the learning process
- create positive classroom cultures focused on relationships, inclusive practices, and reciprocal trust
- collaborate effectively with colleagues to improve teaching methods and ensure supports are in place for all students
- use a variety of approaches to establish a safe and caring classroom community and to provide a safe and respectful learning environment for students
- implement a balanced PE program that includes individual and team activities and thoughtfully incorporates social and emotional learning
- provide a safe and productive environment in the PE classroom
- contribute actively as a member of student teams
- implement best practices regarding school-wide student protocols (i.e., Multi-Tiered System of Supports, PBIS)
- Holds or is eligible to hold a Vermont Teaching License with PK-12 or 7-12 Physical Education and PK-12 or 5-12 Health Education endorsement.
- Certification in CPR/AED and First Aid
