    The Quality Control Lead/Specialist plays an integral role within Vermont Gas Systems (VGS) to ensure quality of materials, work practices, integrity programs, and procedures that underscore VGS’s commitment to safe and reliable delivery of natural gas services to over 56,000 customers in Chittenden, Franklin, and Addison Counties.  As part of the Safety & Compliance team, this individual will apply their experience and knowledge of Quality Control best practices to develop, maintain, and lead VGS’s Quality Management Program. Their curious and inquisitive nature enables them to evaluate current processes and identify improvement opportunities within a complex industry. They are proficient in analyzing data to identify patterns and themes to support decision making. Since they work with employees throughout the company, they are effective at developing partnerships and can leverage their influence to impact positive change. 

    WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION?

    • Develop, maintain, and lead a comprehensive Quality Management Program. The program will evaluate existing quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) measures, identify additional focus areas and develop a schedule for conducting and evaluating data from QA/QC audits and inspections. 
    • Develop protocols for performing QA/QC audits and inspections.
    • Conduct field and office-based QA/QC audits.
    • Support VGS employees with training, best practices, and general support that have responsibilities for QA/QC activities. Regularly discuss data and trends.
    • Update and maintain the written QA/QC program for Operations employees and ensure that it supports the PSMS API 1173 framework. 
    • Track, review, and present quality data to stakeholders which can aid with continuous improvement opportunities and decision making. 
    • Participate in industry trade association activities with a focus on Quality Assurance.
    • Supports the Pipeline Safety Management System (PSMS) Manager with tasks as required within VGS PSMS framework.
    • Develop a Quality Management page under VGS internal Safety & Compliance SharePoint site. This page will include a summary of activities and dashboard metrics.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
     WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE FOR THIS ROLE?
    • Knowledgeable in quality assurance/quality control methodology and best practices.
    • Experienced in conducting quality audits and inspections with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Knowledgeable and comfortable with technology and QA/QC tools. 
    • Certification or experience with ISO 9001 framework is a plus. 
    • Self-directed with excellent organizational skills.
    • Strong attention to detail. 
    • Collaborative and effective at working with others in a diverse occupational environment.  
    • Adaptable to learning a new industry, curious to learn.
    • Effective communication skills, which includes writing, speaking, and presenting information. 
    • Strong data analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint. 
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK CONDITIONS:
    • During the summer months will continuously walk/stand.  During the winter months will continuously sit.   Frequently works on computer.
    • Frequently required to drive, use both hands for simple grasping, and work outdoors with occasional exposure to weather conditions.
    • Occasionally lift between 10-50 lbs.; push; pull; bend; stoop; and squat.
    • Exposure to dust, fumes, gases, chemicals, etc.; walking on uneven ground and subject to hazards.
    • Must be willing to travel occasionally.
