• Educational Assistant for Early Education

    Mount Abraham Unified School District has an immediate opening for an Educational Assistant to support the implementation of an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for a preschool-aged child with disabilities. Working under the direction of licensed educators and service providers, the assistant helps promote student engagement, independence, and school readiness in inclusive or special education settings.
     
    Responsibilities Include:
    • Providing direct support to an individual student to reinforce instruction and skill development.
    • Assist in implementing daily routines and activities that support learning across developmental domains (communication, motor, cognitive, social-emotional, and self-help).
    • Support the student in participating in classroom activities, including transitions, circle time, play-based learning, and specials. Implement accommodations and behavioral support strategies as outlined in the student's IEP or behavior plan.
    • Collect data and observations to support student progress monitoring. Support the student in using multi-model communication systems (i.e. ASL, Speech Generating device, etc…)
    • Help maintain a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
    • Assist students with personal care needs, which includes toileting, feeding, dressing, and mobility support.
    • Foster positive interactions and relationships with students, families, and team members.
    • Participate in team meetings and professional development as required.
     
    Working with young children requires that the individual is physically capable of getting up and down from the floor, lifting 50lbs, and other associated physical demands.
     
    The educational assistant is a unionized, non-exempt/hourly position. The pay range is $22.46 – $26.95. The work hours are 7:45 am to 3:15 pm.

    Job Requirements
    • Associates Degree or Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Certification
    • Certification in proper techniques for restraints and seclusion (i.e., Crisis Prevention Intervention).
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
    • Ability to follow administrative guidelines, work independently and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to work collaboratively.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with students, parents, staff and members of the community.
    • Ability to utilize software applications applicable to school operations and activities.
