The Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival (MNFF), a highly successful and selective regional film festival, is a nonprofit arts organization dedicated to celebrating emerging filmmakers and fostering a vibrant creative community through an annual world-class festival and year-round engagement. MNFF, buttressed by robust community support, is known for its intimate, filmmaker-centered experience and strong local and national partnerships.

    Position Overview
MNFF is seeking a highly motivated, mission-aligned professional to join the organization in a growth-based succession-track role beginning in Spring of 2026 as Managing Producer. This is a rare opportunity for a producing professional interested in evolving into nonprofit executive leadership. Advancement is expected but dependent on strong performance, mutual fit, and organizational readiness.

    Managing Producer Responsibilities
The Managing Producer will work closely with MNFF’s Interim Producer and Artistic Director to learn all major operational, financial, and cultural systems that support the festival. The key responsibility is to facilitate the planning and delivery of the annual Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival, including but not limited to:

    • Participating in all major festival planning and execution activities
    • Supporting staff coordination, hiring, and volunteer leadership
    • Learning all operational systems for launching, running, and wrapping the annual festival
    • Attending sponsor, donor, and fundraising meetings alongside senior leadership
    • Managing defined projects and logistics with increasing independence
    • Maintaining organized records of key relationships, traditions, and workflows
    • Participating in board meetings as a non-voting attendee
A significant deliverable will be the creation and presentation of documents for all major festival systems, including but not limited to ongoing operations, event calendars, and financial reporting.

We are seeking candidates with both producing experience and leadership potential. Preferred qualifications include:
    • Festival, event, or arts producing/operations experience
    • Strong organizational and project management skills
    • Demonstrated financial reporting and budget competency
    • Excellent interpersonal communication and relationship-building ability
    • Interest in nonprofit leadership, governance, and sustainability
    • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, evolving environment
    • Commitment to MNFF’s mission and values, including the local Middlebury and Addison County communities
MNFF offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience, starting in the $60,000-$75,000 range.
