The Henry Sheldon Museum and the Historical Societies of Addison County invite the public to a special Veterans' Day program at the Museum on Sunday, November 8 at 1:30 p.m. A program of Civil War remembrances will be presented with stories from Addison County towns about their Civil War heritage. The public is encouraged to bring stories, letters, small artifacts and photographs from your town's Civil War history to share during the program. The Museum will feature a newly-acquired collection from Civil War Medal of Honor recipient, Amasa Tracy as well as a poem written by Tracy's son about Sheridan's ride from Winchester to the Battle of Cedar Creek, VA, and, a song written by Samuel Wilson of Vergennes, on September 11th 1861. Members of the various historical societies will provide 19th century style snacks. In lieu of admission please bring a donation for a food shelf. The Henry Sheldon Museum is located at 1 Park Street in downtown Middlebury, across from the Ilsley Public Library. Call 802/388-2117 for information.
