Great Art Wednesday: Turner and Const...Description
Celebrating the 250th anniversary of their births, this unmissable new documentary explores Turner and Constable’s intertwined lives and legacies alongside the groundbreaking Tate exhibition.
Two of Britain’s greatest painters, J.M.W. Turner and John Constable were also the greatest of rivals. Turner’s blazing sunsets and sublime scenes from his travels and Constable’s idealized depictions of beloved places from home whipped the public of the time into a frenzy of enthusiasm.
Back by popular demand, Great Art Wednesday returns to Middlebury’s Town Hall Theater – featuring filmed tours of major art exhibitions around the world. The 2025-2026 six-film series launches on October 15 and continues through May.
“This series has been a really enjoyable part of our educational mission,” says THT Executive & Artistic Director Lisa Mitchell. “The films are absolutely gorgeous, and the camera moves in to give you close-up views of the art, the kind of thing you’d never get in a crowded museum.”Tell a Friend
