Bring a lunch and Tour "Five Formidable Forts of the Lake Champlain Narrows", and Friends of Crown Point, will provide the cold drinks and dessert. Beginning at 10:00 am at Chimney Point in Addison, VT, tour the archeological sites where there were two early forts, (1610 and 1731), then across the Lake Champlain Bridge, tour ruins of two more forts, (1734 and 1759) at Crown Point, NY, and hear a lunch-time presentation by Don Thompson, historian/educator of Samuel Champlain. Lastly, tour the star-shaped War for Indepence fort site at Mount Independence in Orwell, VT
Among these five forts are three National Historic Landmarks, the largest British fort in North America, a fort that stood over 100 feet tall, and a fort that was constructed by a 4,000 soldier workforce.Tell a Friend
