About Us

Rocky Dale Gardens was started in 1981 when two energetic horticultuists moved to Vermont from Berkeley? California and settled in this small valley know for its rock ledges and enticing microclimates.

Here they developed Rocky Dale Gardens as a 3-acre display garden and plant nursery.  The gardens feature many mature conifer specimens as well as deciduous material not thought to be hardy this far north. Woodland plants put on a spring show and the masses of perennials used as groundcovers fill the garden in large drifts.

The nursery continues to offer a large variety of plants and is staffed with horicultural experts.  We produce a catalog each year that includes our hard-to-find treasures.

Though the original owners and creators have moved on?the gardens continue to evolve and offer new experiences and the nursery is better than ever.  Many customers have been coming here for over 20 years claiming it's one of the best New England nurseries.
