Marine Technician

Position Summary
Creekside Marine is seeking a dependable, self-motivated Marine Technician to join our growing team. We service and repair all types of powerboats and motors, specializing in Yamaha and Honda outboards, engine repowers, and trailer maintenance. This position requires hands-on mechanical work, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a small-shop environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose, service, and repair outboard and inboard engines efficiently and accurately.
- Perform seasonal maintenance, rigging, and complete system checks.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair boat electrical, hydraulic, steering, and fuel systems.
- Maintain and repair trailers, including brakes, bearings, wiring, and lights.
- Mount motors, conduct water tests, and monitor performance for malfunctions.
- Disassemble engines to inspect, repair, or replace defective parts.
- Perform routine engine maintenance including oil changes, filters, and tune-ups.
- Document inspection results, repairs performed, and recommended services.
- Maintain organized, safe, and clean work areas.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and coworkers.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong mechanical knowledge of engines, tools, equipment, and repair techniques.
- Understanding of electrical systems, circuit boards, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and work orders.
- Mathematical ability sufficient to measure, calculate, and diagnose mechanical issues.
- Strong troubleshooting and complex problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate vehicles, tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment safely.
- Customer service skills and professional communication abilities.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Basic computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, and internet use.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Marine, small engine, or mechanical repair experience preferred; training available for the right candidate.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position requires work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, noise, contaminants, and marine environments. Duties require standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting and carrying heavy objects, using hand and power tools, and working in confined spaces. Personal protective equipment may be required.
