    Salary Range:
    $1.00 To $45,000.00 Annually

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversees the supervision of students engaged in center-sponsored recreational activities on and off center.
    • Provides supervision, training, and assessment for assigned recreation staff.
    • Plans, implements and evaluates all recreational programs and makes recommendations for change.
    • Prepares schedules and calendars for all recreational activities. Coordinates student field trips.
    • Creates a supportive work environment; recognizes staff accomplishments and proactively addresses staff performance goals.
    • Tracks and records program attendance.
    • Orders and maintains recreational equipment, supplies and materials.
    • Prepares and controls the departmental budget.
    • Designs, develops and implements an active system of communicating upcoming recreation events to students, staff and the community.
    • Implements an active system for obtaining student feedback and statements of interest.
    • Promotes student and staff participation and interest in recreation activities.
    • Recognizes and reinforces students’ positive behavior. 
    • Plans, organizes and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to insure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures.
    • Models appropriate behaviors, mentors students and monitors both positive and negative behaviors through interventions. 
    SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
    • Demonstrated hands-on management style and organization skills
    • Proven ability to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate recreation programs
    • Proven ability to build partnerships and secure resources that benefit program objective
    • Excellent leadership and coaching skills; excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Extensive knowledge of operational practices and principles of recreation/avocation programs
    • Proficient in rules and regulations of common sports and games
    • Knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices
    • Proficient in the use of computer software such as MSWord, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
    • Bachelors Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. 
    EXPERIENCE:
    • Two years of recreation experience or one year of which was in a supervisory capacity. 
    • Must possess a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
    • Encouraged to obtain valid commercial Driver’s License Class B with passenger endorsement within three months of hire. Water Safety Certification.
