Job Skills & Transitional Services Educator .60 FTE
Posted: 12/07/2025The Mt. Abraham Union Middle/High School is seeking an exceptional educator to teach and support high school students (grades 9–12) with IEPs as they develop job skills, career readiness, and independent living competencies through community-based learning. This position plays a key role in coordinating job placements, collaborating with school teams and families, and ensuring students are well-prepared for successful transitions to employment, further education, and adult life.
Key Responsibilities- Provide instruction in employability, communication, and independent living skills.
- Coordinate and supervise community-based job training experiences and internships.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, counselors, families, and community partners to support student success.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized transition goals and track student progress.
- Partner with adult service agencies (e.g., HireAbility) to support postsecondary planning and long-term transition needs.
- Support meaningful, hands-on learning for students within their communities.
- Collaborate with caring, innovative educators, families, and community partners.
- Make a lasting impact by helping students build independence and skills for lifelong success.

Job Requirements- Vermont Educator License with Special Education endorsement or a Grade 9–12 Teaching endorsement.
- Experience working with high school students and transition programming.
- Experience with work-based learning, vocational training, or community-based instruction.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required
