• Bus Drivers Needed- Multiple Positions- Starting hourly rate $32.39

    Rutland Northeast Supervisory Union is accepting applications for Bus drivers. The Bus Driver provides safe, respectful and efficient transportation for all students. Starting rate of pay beginning July 1st is 32.39/hr with opportunity for increase based on prior CDL related driving experience.

    Open Route Details:

    Bus 1 Route - 4 hr - 2AM-2PM (6-8AM/ 2-4PM) Chittenden/Mendon Route
    Bus 7 Route - 3.75 hr -1.75AM-2PM (6:15-8AM / 2-4PM) OV/Neshobe Route
    Bus 9 Route - 4.5 hr - 2.5AM-2PM (5:30-8AM / 2:45-4:45PM) OV/Leicester Route

    The following qualifications are required:
    Must maintain a valid commercial driver’s license with school bus endorsement at all times.
    Must pass an annual physical examination by a licensed M.D. on or before August 25th each year.
    As Mandated by the Agency of Transportation (AOT), newly hired bus drivers must pass a drug test before driving for the first time. Random drug testing of all bus drivers in the RNESU District will be conducted each year. All drivers, as required by AOT, will be included in the RNESU Driver’s mandatory drug and alcohol testing pool.

    The following are preferred:
    Ability to work with children and adults; utilizing respectful communications; accepting supervision; and maintaining control over the bus environment.
    Ability to maintain discipline on the bus so that the operator’s attention may be concentrated on driving.
    Ability to communicate and enforce bus behavior expectations.
    Understands and follows RNESU District practices on school bus accidents and immediately reports all accidents and completes required reports and paperwork.
    Ability to make independent judgments.
    Ability to be reliable in attendance and punctuality in reporting to work on time.
    Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and pressure while remaining calm and tactful with students, parents, community members and staff members.
    Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with federal, state and RNESU requirements
    Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and meet deadlines.
    Ability to act on and uphold the policies and procedures established by the board and administration

    Moderate degree of physical and emotional stamina
    Work is typically performed inside and around the exterior of a school bus and may include temperature extremes and some hazardous driving conditions.
    Employees must have the physical stamina, health, and flexibility necessary to bend, stretch, crouch, kneel, stoop, lift, pull, push, and climb; d/aily bending, stooping crawling and climbing to inspect on and under a school bus as required.
    Frequent and prolonged sitting with repetitive hand and arm motions
    Possess near/far visual acuity/depth perception
