No matter what type of business you’re in, one of the greatest challenges here in Vermont is finding and keeping skilled employees. Companies tell us they can’t grow for lack of skilled workers, and HR personnel can’t interview and offer someone a job before they’ve moved on to pursue a more interesting position.
We will cover topics including:- The Recruitment Process – job descriptions, advertising an opening, screening resumes, interviewing, and the decision to hire.
- Benefits as a Recruitment Tool – what are people looking for and how to select what benefits to offer.
- Onboarding and Retention – employee orientation, training, engagement and business culture
Amy Puglise - Collins Aerospace: Amy is the Sr. HR Manager supporting the Vergennes Collins Aerospace site. Amy has many years of HR experience in construction, manufacturing, mechanical contracting, aerospace and the fitness industry. She also is a CPT (certified personal trainer). In her free time, she likes to volunteer for various local organizations, travel, workout in the gym, promote/ judge NPC Bodybuilding competitions, and spend time with her husband, daughter and dachshund puppy.Heather Jerome – National Bank of Middlebury: Heather has worked at National Bank of Middlebury for 11 years and have been the HR Officer since 2017. She has a BA in Elementary Education and over 15 years of retail management experience. Her background in retail operations management has helped immensely in the HR position by seeing, firsthand, the effects of HR policies and procedures on a company’s staff. Working for a small organization means that Heather wears many ‘hats’, but she is primarily responsible for interviewing, hiring, onboarding, compliance and benefits.

Ashley Jacobs – Cabot/Agri-Mark: Ashley Jacobs is the HR Representative at Agri-Mark, Inc. located at the Cabot Creamery plant in Middlebury.
