What do you say when an employee asks, “What’s the policy regarding [...........]?" If the answer starts with, “Well, the handbook says […], but we usually just do it this way", then you may be in trouble. Or, have you ever given the answer that you believed to be correct just to have the employee state, “well, the handbook says I am entitled to […].”
If you don't have an Employee Handbook, don't understand the contents, or yours is out-of-date, then our upcoming seminar "Employee Handbook Basics" will provide the legal guidance you need to keep your handbook in working order.
Our speaker will be Michele Patton of Langrock, Sperry & Wool, LLP. She will cover the in's and out's of keeping your Employee Handbook up to date, including:- The purpose of a handbook: What it should and should not accomplish
- How to go about creating or revising your policies
- What is required by law to be in your employee handbook
- What additional policies can or should be in your employee handbook
- What shouldn’t you have in your handbook
- How to properly communicate and implement your policies
- How often should you revise your policies
