Phoenix Feeds & Nutrition, Inc., a leading manufacturer of conventional animal feed serving New England and Upstate New York, is seeking a skilled and motivated Feed Mill Lead Maintenance Technician to join our team in New Haven, Vermont. This position offers the opportunity to combine hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our feed mill operations. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a vital role in supporting safe, efficient production and mentoring fellow technicians. Responsibilities- Supervise and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
- Perform and oversee repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment such as conveyors, mixers, grinders, and bucket elevators.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain and repair facility infrastructure to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, HACCP guidelines, and GMP standards.
- Manage maintenance schedules, work orders, and inventory of tools and spare parts.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or equipment upgrades.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns to minimize production downtime.
- Accurately document maintenance activities and communicate issues to management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in equipment upgrades.
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a feed mill or agricultural setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in maintenance software and basic computer applications.
- Ability to lift 55+ lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
- Experience with PLCs and automated systems is a plus.
- Welding and fabrication capabilities are a plus.
- Familiarity with feed production processes and agricultural equipment is a plus.
