Snoo Wilson’s poignant and fantastical play follows the life and death of Alan Turing—code-breaker, officer of the Order of the British Empire, and father of the modern computer—whose brilliant mathematical career was marred by his tragic biography. The story is told by his teddy bear, Porgy, who acts as both cheerleader and Greek chorus. Turing’s life story has been in the news lately: British Prime Minister Gordon Brown recently issued an official apology for his government’s prosecution of Turing for homosexuality. Directed by Cheryl Faraone. Theatre faculty member Alex Draper ’88 plays the role of Turing; Porgy is played by Lilli Stein ’11. The cast also includes Cassidy Boyd ’10, Martina Bonolis ’10, Willie McKay ’11, Reilly Steel ’11, Oscar Loyo ’10, Naomi Shafer ’12, Emily Pinto ’12, J. P. Allen ’11, Ben Schiffer ’10, Cori Hundt ’11.
