First Annual CAPP Lecture: Environmen...Description
Stacy Levy fuses art and nature in sitespecific installations that explore the natural processes which create a location as we know it. Often, her outdoor interventions investigate the movement of water, highlighting patterns which might otherwise remain invisible. Recent projects have included Tide Flowers on the Hudson River in New York, which used bright red flowers to signal high and low tide, and Lotic Meander, a sculpture at the Ontario Science Center representing the hydrologic patterns of local streams. Levy also collaborated on the design of Acid Mine Drainage amd Art, a functional, as well as educational and recreational, wastewater treatment park in Pennsylvania. A graduate of Yale, B.A. Sculpture and minor in Forestry,, Levy also studied at the Architectural Association in London, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, and the Tyler School of Art MFA, Sculpture. Sponsored by the Committee on Art in Public Places and the Museum of Art.
