The program will be presented by four local experts on biomass energy who will discuss their recent and ongoing research on the potential for utilizing county-wide biomass resources, including woody biomass and grasses, to meet a greater proportion of our energy needs. The speakers include David Brynn, Executive Director of Vermont Family Forests; Marc Lapin, Ph.D., Forest Ecologist, Ecosystem Conservation Science and Environmental Studies Professor at Middlebury College; Bill Peterson, USDA Forest Service, Green Mountain National Forest; and Lini Wollenberg, Researcher at UVM Extension. The speakers will report on the land base in our county that is suitable for sustainable forest biomass harvest, the wood biomass resource supply, potential energy partnerships, and the wood energy available from the Green Mountain National Forest. The evening is guaranteed to provide a lively discussion on biomass energy. Everyone involved or interested in the potential for utilizing this renewable resource is invited to share their experiences, concerns and questions with our speakers.
