Art on the LandDescription
Studio Art students return from a trip to the Trinchero Ranch in Fort Garland, Colorado to display their new works. Working with nature as source and subject matter, students kept a visualjournalthat included at least one drawing, one photograph, and one object that was produced or collected each day. Reflections on these activities became the genesis for artwork that incorporated drawing, photography, and sculpture, often in combination. Much of the artwork was produced outside, on the land, using materials and other phenomena such as wind, water, light, and temperature found on site. The work you see here speaks to the many discoveries each person made about nature as subject matter for art under those unique circumstances. Featuring the work of Amy Doucette '12, Ki Lee '12, Melinda Marquis '11, Derek Matus '12, Leslie Moffat '11, Michaela O'Connor '11, Cameron Poole '12, Emily Reed '11, Liza Shea '11, and Jue Yang '11, led by Professor Eric Nelson.
