SUMMARY:Wetland Walk with Zapata Courage
DESCRIPTION:Join the wonderful and knowledgeable Zapata Courage\, a Wetland Ecologist for Vermont's Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC)\, will guide a nature walk along the trail at Wright Park. You will start your wetland exploration upland near the Wright Park parking lot\, then follow the trail down to the zig-zag bridge finding yourself in a beautiful wetland area. Here she will discuss the dynamics of this beaver influenced wetland system\, and teach what makes a wetland and how to identify one using plant identification. Your journey will then be led over to the Otter Creek Gorge to talk about floodplain wetlands\, the important role they play in flood management\, and the diverse ecosystems they house. Prior to working at DEC\, Zapata worked as a consultant\, field biologist\, and environmental outdoor educator. \n\n\n\n Event Highlights:  \n\n	Family friendly\n	Learn about one of our planet's most vital and threatened ecosystems from a professional wetland ecologist\n	Must be able to walk at least a mile on easy trails\n	Park at the Wright Park parking lot off of Seymour St Ext\n	Come prepared to get wet and muddy\, just like a real ecologist! (Tall rubber boots or waders are highly recommended)\n\n\n\nCANCELLATION POLICY: MALT operates programs outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. If weather conditions are hazardous (lightning\, sustained winds  30m.p.h.)\, MALT may cancel the program. If that is the case\, you will receive notification via email.
