DESCRIPTION:We're thrilled to welcome back our long-time friends\, the Tak cs Quartet celebrating their 50th anniversary season for their 31st Middlebury performance since 1994. The Grammy and three-time Gramophone award-winning quartet will perform the Vermont premiere of Clarice Assad's NEXUS\, of which the series is honored to be a co-commissioner. The Tak cs rounds out their program with luminous quartets by Haydn and Debussy.\n\n\n\nApproximate running time: 100 minutes including one intermission. Learn more about this concert's music in a free pre-concert lecture by Professor Emeritus of Music Larry Hamberlin at 6:15 PM in MAC room 125.\n\n\n\nAbout the Artists:\n\nIn recognition of its 50th anniversary\, the world-renowned Tak cs Quartet was recently the subject of an in-depth profile by The New York Times\, featured on the cover of Strad magazine\, and appeared on NPR's Tiny Desk series. The Tak cs released two anniversary season albums in 2025 for Hyperion Records to glowing reviews. The musicians enjoy a busy international touring schedule\, are Associate Artists at London's Wigmore Hall\, and have been Artists in Residence at the University of Colorado\, Boulder since 1986.
