SUMMARY:Roomful of Teeth and Allison Loggins Hull\, Flute/Electronics
DESCRIPTION:Friction is a genre-breaking sound world brought to life in this Vermont premiere by composer and flutist Allison Loggins-Hull\, in collaboration with the two-time GRAMMY-winning vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth. This debut collaboration weaves a striking tapestry of songs\, composed by Loggins-Hull\, delving into the intricate dance between the forces that shape us. Those forces our influences\, inheritances\, relationships like friction itself\, generate both light and heat\, and have the capacity to reveal our greatest strengths and most closely held flaws.\n\n\n\nThe songs of Friction are deeply personal and unapologetically vulnerable. With texts drawn as messages to and from the composer's past and future selves\, the music is entrancing in its marriage of intimate chamber singing and modern music production. Here\, the lines between acoustic and electronic blur and bend\, to capture through music the entanglement of joy and anxiety that every person experiences.\n\n\n\nApproximate running time: 100 minutes including one intermission.\n\n\n\nAbout the Artists:\n\nRoomful of Teeth is a two-time GRAMMY Award-winning ensemble dedicated to the performance of new works for eight amplified voices. Through collaboration\, commissioning\, and new technologies\, they seek to reimagine the expressive potential of the human voice. Learn more about Roomful of Teeth: https://www.roomfulofteeth.org/\n\n\n\nCelebrated as a musical "powerhouse" (The Washington Post)\, Allison Loggins-Hull is a composer\, flutist\, and producer whose work defies genre\, from symphonic music to film scores\, chamber\, and electronic music.
