Addison County Chamber Hosts Meeting to Discuss Upcoming Healthcare Choices for Small BusinessesBy Sue Hoxie
Businesses and Employees Need Better Understanding of Vermont’s Health Benefit Exchange
Middlebury, Vermont – January 22, 2013 – The Addison County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a meeting open to both members and the public entitled “Healthcare Decisions for Small Businesses in 2013.” The meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 6, from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Ilsley Library Community Room in Middlebury.
The featured presenters are Bram Kleppner, CEO of Danforth Pewter and Co-Chair of the Medicaid/Exchange Advisory Board and Sean Sheehan, Director of Education and Outreach for Vermont's Health Benefit Exchange at the Department of Vermont Health Access. Some of the topics to be covered are:
- Changes required by the federal Affordable Care Act
- How these changes are being implemented in Vermont and what they mean to Vermont’s small businesses
- Financial implications for businesses and employees—should businesses continue to offer insurance or should employees purchase directly from Vermont's on-line Health Benefit Exchange
“There are many changes coming to the small business health insurance market in 2013 and 2014,” said Andy Mayer, president, Addison County Chamber of Commerce. “Many businesses and their employees are unaware of the upcoming changes or need more information to start making decisions. This meeting with Bram and Sean will help clarify what’s going to happen with health insurance over the next few years.”
This event is open to the public and is free of charge. Attendees are welcome to bring a bag lunch to this noontime meeting.
An RSVP is appreciated to Sue Hoxie (firstname.lastname@example.org) or 388-7951 x2.
