Local Real Estate Company Supports Local Fundraising Event

Middlebury, Vermont – January 23, 2012 – The organizing committee for the “Middlebury Maple Run – The Sweetest Half” is pleased to announce that Ingrid Punderson Jackson (IPJ) Real Estate, located on Middlebury’s Main Street, has committed to become the race’s title sponsor. Scheduled for Sunday, May 6th with a start time of 9 a.m., the Middlebury Maple Run is becoming one of New England’s “must-do” races and organizers hope to attract at least 1,000 runners for this year’s event.

“IPJ Real Estate is honored to have the opportunity to sponsor the 2012 Middlebury Maple Run. In addition to the worthy beneficiaries of the race proceeds, the community itself is a big winner. What a great opportunity for people from all over the country to participate in a fun and beautifully scenic race in our backyard,” said Amey Ryan, Broker, IPJ Real Estate.

“I’m so pleased and excited that IPJ Real Estate is our event’s new title sponsor. IPJ is a proven community supporter and we’re so grateful they have decided to become involved with this local fundraiser. When businesses have so many choices of where to spend their charitable dollars, it’s especially meaningful that IPJ has chosen to donate locally and benefit several Addison County non-profits,” said Andrea Solomon, race co-director.

The proceeds from 2011’s Middlebury Maple Run were donated to several worthwhile charities. A total of $12,000 was distributed among one national charity, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and several Addison County-based charities, H.O.P.E., United Way of Addison County, Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Girls on the Run, and Open Door Clinic. In 2012 the Addison County Humane Society will be added to the list of recipients.

Local lodging properties, restaurants and merchants will reap benefits as well. Approximately 40% of previous years’ runners have been from out of state—the majority from neighboring New England states and New York. Many runners will be traveling with family and friends resulting in more than 1,000 visitors in the area during race weekend. The Addison County Chamber of Commerce estimates the 2011 edition of the Middlebury Maple Run provided direct economic impact to the area of at least $100,000.

Organizing and hosting a 13-mile footrace is a large undertaking and the organizing committee is accepting additional sponsors. If you’re interested in learning how race sponsorship can benefit your business, please contact Andrea Solomon at asolomon@middlebury.edu.
