A safe, fun space for the young and young at heart

Middlebury, Vermont – October 3, 2011 – The Addison County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the opening of Whirlie’s World, Addison County’s only family entertainment center. Their grand opening will be Saturday, October 15th. Whirlie’s World is located at 1232 Exchange Street in Middlebury.

Whirlie’s World, is owned and operated by Middlebury residents Peter (aka Nerf) and Naomi Neff. Housed in a large former industrial space, there are a variety of activities that will interest kids, from toddlers and their families up to older teenagers. One area is devoted to a 13-hole mini golf course, but with the twist of playing under black lights and all the holes are decorated with glow-in-the-dark paint. There are table games such as pool, air hockey and foosball. Arcade games such as skeeball, basketball, racing and shooting will occupy a large portion of the square footage as well.

“As a family with six children, aged 15 to 25, we appreciate the need for a safe, fun space for kids to meet their friends or come with their parents,” said owner Naomi Neff. “We think our largest customer base will likely come from 12 to 18 year olds, but we hope families with younger children will come and play here too.”

There will be nights exclusively for teens with music DJ’d by Nerf, movie nights, and an internet café with video games. One play area contains several inflatable “bouncy houses” designed for kids (and adults) of all sizes. Snacks are available and the space can be reserved for birthday parties and other group gatherings.

Peter Neff has worked at Middlebury Union Middle School for the past seven years and has operated his own mobile disc jockey company for 30+ years. Naomi Neff has worked at Middlebury College for the past five years.

Whirlie’s World is located at 1232 Exchange Street, Middlebury. Expect to see several of the Neff’s children working during the summers, weekends, and non-school hours. The phone number is 802-989-7351 and the hours of operation are Tuesday-Friday from 3:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Their website is http://whirliesworld.com.
