Haunted Forest on October 23rd; Pumpkins in the Park on October 30th
Vergennes, Vermont – October 7, 2010 – The City of Vergennes and the Addison County Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring two family-friendly events. The 3rd Annual Haunted Forest will be held on Saturday, October 23rd while the 4th Annual Pumpkins in the Park will be held on Saturday, October 30th. Haunted Forest is designed for older children, although kids under 10 will be admitted with parents’ permission, and Pumpkins in the Park is an event for people of all ages.
More About Haunted Forest – October 23rd
Come and see what crawled out of Otter Creek! Starting from Falls Park, between 6:30 and 9 p.m. there will be guided tours to view scenes and skits along Otter Creek. Admission: Adults - $5, Kids 16 and Under - $2.
Donations of non-perishable items will be accepted for the local food shelf.
There will be NO parking at Falls Park. Parking will be available at the West Street parking lot of Goodrich Corp. Bet-Cha Transit is providing a free shuttle from Goodrich to Falls Park.
Ghoulish food and beverages will be sold during the evening. Come to Vergennes’ Haunted Forest and enjoy a scary, fun-filled evening!
More About Pumpkins in the Park – October 30th
All are welcome to bring their carved and/or decorated pumpkins with a candle and registration form to the Vergennes City Park by 6:45 p.m. Wearing costumes will definitely add to the fun! First, second and third place ribbons and certificates will be awarded to each of six divisions: Family (which can include children of any age), Grades K-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-8, Grades 9-12, and adults.
At 7 p.m. the pumpkins will be lit causing the park to come alive with a “pumpkin glow!” Then, with ghoulish sounds emerging throughout the park, the pumpkins will be judged by local art teachers and prizes awarded by Vergennes Mayor, Michael Daniels. Participants will be able to bring their creations back home ready for Halloween!
During the pumpkin judging, there will be a costume parade for children of all ages. Attendees will be able to purchase mulled cider and cider donuts at the bandstand.
Registration forms must be filled out and brought with your pumpkin. They are available at Vergennes’ merchants and the Addison County Chamber of Commerce.
