Middlebury, Vermont – September 29, 2009 – The Addison County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that Rachel Carter, principal, Rachel Carter PR (www.rachelcarterpr.com), will speak at its countywide membership meeting on Tuesday, October 6th. Ms. Carter’s talk, titled “Facebook, Twitter and Blogs: Understanding Social Networking and Defining Social Media”, will describe some of the key social networking mediums and an explanation into the concept of social networking and how it relates to traditional business networking. From blogs to message boards; from Twitter to Facebook, the workshop will discuss how social networks have created social media and completely altered the practices of public relations and marketing. Ms. Carter will show examples of how to feel more comfortable with these mediums and how to start incorporating them into business’ marketing programs.

One of Ms. Carter’s blogs, Vermont Vibes (http://VermontVibes.blogspot.com), was featured in the Summer 2009 issue of Pontiac Performance Magazine. The Vermont Vibes Blog features Carter’s firsthand experiences exploring Vermont, cooking and gardening adventures at her home and office in Charlotte, and ways to share positive “vibes” to Vermonters all while traveling in her Pontiac Vibe. Pontiac Performance Magazine is the official Pontiac publication published by General Motors Corporation and distributed quarterly to Pontiac owners nationwide.

Other career highlights include serving as Director of Public Relations at a Vermont marketing agency, teaching public relations courses at Champlain College, and being named both the Burlington and Vermont Young Careerist of the Year by the Business & Professional Women organization.  As a speaker and presenter, Rachel's roster includes the 2008 Vermont Association of Wedding Professionals Annual Conference, a Center for Media & Democracy Media Maven Luncheon, the 2009 Vermont Travel Industry Conference, and the 2009 Women Business Owner's Network Spring Seminar. Rachel Carter PR works exclusively with Vermont clients in the travel and tourism, Vermont products, recreation, human services, business services, finance, and entertainment industries.
