Dylan Newton of Middlebury Will Receive $4,000 in Scholarship Monies
Middlebury, Vermont – July 13, 2009 – The 15th annual Addison County Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Golf Tournament was held on June 25th at the Basin Harbor Club. The Chamber hosts this annual tournament to raise money that funds a $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 per year for four consecutive years) which is awarded to a graduating senior from the Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center.
This year’s scholarship recipient is Dylan Newton of Middlebury. He is the son of Kevin Newton and Beverly Burke and plans to attend Clarkson University in the fall, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Dylan is a member of the National Technical Honor Society. He has been very involved in his school and his community. He co-captained Middlebury Union High School’s football, hockey and golf teams. He’s in the National Football Hall of Fame, Vermont Chapter, and was named to the All North Football Team. Dylan attended Boys State, been a peer leader, participated in the United Way of Addison County’s Days of Caring and was an excellent student in the pre-engineering/ architectural drafting program.

The men’s longest drive was awarded to Ed Sargent, and the women’s longest drive was awarded to Sarah Peluso of IPJ Real Estate. The men’s closest to the pin winner was Andy Mayer of the Addison Counter Chamber of Commerce and John Curler of Hannaford Career Center.
