Beth Perera is certified by Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine to offer nutritional education classes

Middlebury, Vermont – November 6, 2013 – The Addison County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to welcome its newest member, Food for Life. Its local instructor is Beth Perera, a Goshen, Vermont resident, who offers nutrition/cooking classes to benefit those with Type II diabetes as well as cancer survivors and their families, those who want to better manage their weight, or want to better understand nutrition for disease prevention. Food for Life’s newest offering is an employee wellness program to help businesses reduce healthcare costs.

Food for Life is an award-winning Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) program designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians. The program offers cancer, diabetes, weight management and kids’ classes that focus on the lifesaving effects of healthful eating. Each class includes information about how certain foods and nutrients work to promote health, along with cooking demonstrations of simple and nutritious recipes that can be recreated easily at home.

“I’m passionate about helping people take charge of their health and discovering that often diseases ‘that run in the family’ are more often about the food that runs in the family. We learn to cook from our parents and grandparents. Recipes are often passed down through generations and with them, the ailments that come with the standard American diet,” said Beth Perera. “I’m most excited about the new employee wellness programs because I can reach more people at one time and help them regain their health while reducing their employers’ health care expenses.”

Program participants have successfully lost weight, reversed Type II diabetes, cancers and other degenerative diseases, as well as reduced and/or eliminated the need for prescription medications.

For more information or to schedule a class, contact Beth Perera at 802-342-2946 by email at beth.perera@gmail.com. On the web: https://www.facebook.com/FoodForLifeCookingClasses. Individual and family coaching is available.
