The Inn on Brookside Estate offers elegant lodging in a unique, welcoming, historic country setting in the Champlain Valley.
Centerpiece on a 267 acre Estate, the Inn presents a variety of opportunities for relaxation and recreation. Guests have use of three common rooms in the Manor House, including the cozy Family Room with original Rumford fireplace and beehive oven where meals are served, the Gallery with floor to ceiling "infinity mirrors", and the formal Parlor with coffered ceiling, as well as enjoyment of the surrounding porch, lawns and gardens.
There are miles of woodland trails and meadows for walking, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing, bird watching. a game reserve and magnificent sunsets over the Adirondacks. Relax before a wood fire on a cool Vermont day. On a hot day enjoy the reaches of fresh breezes off Lake Champlain and shade from the spreading boughs of the huge Norway spruce planted in 1813 (perhaps the largest in North America) under which a number of couples have been united in marriage.
Brookside was founded in 1789. After a fortune was made with Merino sheep, in 1843 a large Greek Revival Manor House was built as an attachment to the original farm house and a second fortune was made raising Morgan horses. The property was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
Now in the 21st century a working farm, Brookside Stock Farm, is being re-established on the Estate raising Heritage Belted Galloway cattle, growing silage corn, organic hay, fruits and vegetables and harvesting sap for maple syrup. Guests are welcome to enjoy the farm activities.
ACCOMMODATIONS in the Manor House include an elegant first floor 3-room Suite in the 1843 Greek-Revival north wing overlooking Henrietta's Pond and the Adirondacks, and two quaint rooms on the second floor of the attached original 1789 farm house with views towards The Brook to the north and the English Garden to the south. RATES are seasonal.
A gourmet three course full BREAKFAST is served and every afternoon REFRESHMENT is set out.
DINNERS may be arranged with a fortnight's advance notice - also packed LUNCHES.
