Blueberry Hill Inn
Seems like some places were just born to feel like home, and that is exactly how many of our guests describe Blueberry Hill. Its bright blue façade and red door have been inviting guests for more than 40 years to stop and stay awhile with many finding their way back time and time again.
Nestled in the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area of the Green Mountain National Forest, this 1813 former farmhouse offers a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Inn guests become part of a special family, together sharing in the beauty of the open lands, spectacular mountain vistas, and the clean alpine air. An intoxicating "Special Way of Life" as Tony Clark, the owner, likes to phrase it.
The Inn's accommodations are more than comfortable. One DOES dare to touch everything in his room without fear of breakage. The Blueberry Hill "experience" has to be, well, experienced. Nothing cute or artificial found here, just a downright welcoming home.
Each of its 12 guest rooms come with private baths, but don’t look for the televisions, phones, or air conditioning as those kinds of modern intrusions are still a no-no around here.
The common areas are just as comfortable, take a seat by the fireplace in the living rooms or lounge in the greenhouse. And, in the library you will find shelves of books to read and games for children to play.
Guests gather in the living room at precisely 6:30 p.m. for the nightly cheese and crackers before dinner. Conversations abound as guests reconnect from their various outings of the day and many a wine bottle is opened for that first toast of evening. The evening repast is unhurried and the setting is splendid – a beamed ceiling full of hanging herbs and flowers and the glow of candle lights from the table invite you in and the dining room is full of warmth, friendship and community. Four courses prepared in our open kitchen are a diner’s delight – as the Chef bases his nightly menu on the season and uses local ingredients whenever possible. Dietary alternatives are always available, just be sure to let us know what you do and don’t eat.
Not spending the night? We also except outside dinner reservations. Be sure to give a call a few days ahead of time so we can get you a seat at the table. Who knows you might meet someone from another country or your neighbor – either way it is an enjoyable evening as you become part of the family too.
Dinner is sure to keep you full until breakfast, but if not, there is always our Famous Bottomless Chocolate Chip Cookie Jar. They are legendary and readily available any time day or night in our Tap Room, as well as coffee, tea and hot chocolate – just help yourself (we’re not counting).
A nourishing Vermont country breakfast is a welcome precursor to the day’s events, Fresh brewed coffee is sure to wake you up. Start your day with our homemade pastries, juice, fruit, granola and yogurt and a hot dish, and yes, you can have a cookie too!
Activities in the area are boundless. 40 miles of trails for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing are out the door. In the winter our ski center is equipped with the latest in Nordic skis, and a hot bowl of soup awaits you for lunch. Summer and Fall are for hiking and not only can you hike on our trail system, but close by are the Long Trail, Moosalamoo Mountain, Silver Lake, the Falls of Lana, and the Robert Frost Trails to name a few.
Our property also boasts its own swimming pond, just the right thing to jump into after you take a trip to our wood-fired sauna, and peaceful gardens to sit about while lounging in an Adirondack chair while sipping a glass of wine.
Our Inn and grounds make the perfect spot for a Wedding or Retreat, so please let us know how we can help make your day special.
So come, experience Blueberry Hill. We welcome you home.
